Gerette’s career in cult recovery rises out of her experience in a controlling self-help group she details in her memoir, An Everyday Cult. Through her workshops, readings and presentations, Gerette’s gentle yet passionate perspective educates participants about the dangers of undue influence, coercive control and the process of indoctrination. These topics are perhaps surprisingly relevant to critical conversations we all need to be having, but are increasingly uncivil, divisive, and at worst, violent confrontations. Such conflicts are often driven by unseen controlling influences that are fracturing so many families and communities today. Through a combination of speaking and readings, Gerette invites participants to gain perspective on cultic coercion in a way that inspires discernment and compassion: qualities necessary to build healthy relationships that are the backbone of every resilient community.

Gerette Buglion is an author based in Vermont. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education graduating in 92'. Since 2015 she has shifted focus to adult teaching through writing workshops and lectures focused on coercion, undue influence, and cultic manipulation. She is a member of the International Association of Cultic Studies as of 2016, Gerette is also co-founder of the non-profit "#IGOTOUT" formed in 2020.
